Introduction

I don’t write much about my personal life but this seems like a genuinely worthwhile topic.

A month ago on the 9th of June ’23, I got married to my wonderful Mo. We’ve actually been a couple for ~11 years, lived in three countries with countless homes and been having a grand adventure together. It was time though, we decided, to make it official.

Unconventional conventions

From wearing red Converse’s as part of my ensemble to having my sister be my ‘Best Man’ it was a somewhat unconventional affair. Neither of us would have had it any other way. We wanted a small, casual event, just family and a few friends to help celebrate our day and they lived up to the task admirably…

We flew up to Scotland to be with some of our favourite people (pictured above) and gathered in Inverness for the ceremony which was lots of fun and surprisingly moving. It was performed by Claire, our registrar, who with a delightfully soft Scottish lilt held an engaging service with outstanding personality and essential sense of humour.

Afterwards it was off to the fantastic Café One for a slap up meal and general merriment.

They all helped make the day one to treasure, full of laughter and love (and sunshine… in Scotland!). We both really appreciated being able to share the day with them.

Final thoughts

Our initial plans had not involved Scotland and looking back I’m so glad we changed our minds. I don’t get enough opportunities to head homewards and see these lovely people, let alone a chance to get them all together for a shindig.

I feel so lucky to be blessed with a beautiful wife, a fantastic family and world class friends.
