Bristol WordPress Meetup: A Reboot

Introduction

Covid, that old chestnut, saw the original group disband as we put out our own personal fires and coped with that difficult time in the best ways we could.

Since then folk have transitioned into different life circumstances including some moving away from the area. Four years have passed, things have moved on, gotten better for the most part and we’re back!

Meetup: Rebooted

We’ve held a handful of events at the King WIlliam Ale House on King St. to get the ball rolling. Early indicators are good that there is interest in the group so we’re expanding and moving to a new venue at Temple Studios near Temple Meads (more details later.)

A mix of familiar and new faces

Assistants

Janice and I have remained from the original setup with Beccy and Olly joining us in this new venture. For those familiar with the group, Rob is still around and helps tirelessly in the background as a voluntary supporter.

It’s not what you know…

It’s who you know. We’ve been blessed with a couple of wonderful people helping us out as we expand. David Darke at Atomic Smash got in touch with Rachel Davies at TCN UK who helps run Temple Studios (where Atomic Smash are based) and thanks to them we can now use the Temple Studios facilities. Huzzah!

Venue details

You will find Temple Studios to the right of the entry road leading up to Temple Meads Station. There will be signs posted at the entrance and at the foot of the metal stairs on your right leading up to the meeting area. There will also be someone there to guide you…

Final thoughts

I for one am really looking forward to our inaugural event at our new venue on May 6th. Our speaker Matt Stone is another great boon, not only do I know him by reputation but he’s someone I’ve worked with and we’ve remained friends all these years.

I am also truly honoured to be working alongside everyone in the Bristol WordPress People team, lovely individuals and a pleasure to function as part of a well-oiled and friendly group.
